Porcelain Crowns and Bridge

Bridges are one option for filling gaps caused by missing teeth. Bridges are manufactured with replacement teeth and then bonded to one or two of the remaining teeth in the mouth for an anchor.

There are different types of anchors for the bridge, but the most common ones are bonded to porcelain crowns that are placed on the two adjacent teeth. Placing the crowns on those teeth provides a more stable area for the bridge to attach to.

The bridge is made of pink-colored molded plastic and wire and also usually have porcelain replacement teeth. Porcelain is the ideal material for replacement teeth and crowns, as they are easily color-matched to the remaining teeth in the mouth.

Bonding the bridges in the mouth makes them a permanent appliance. Cleaning a permanent bridge is as easy as cleaning natural teeth. Daily brushing, flossing, and antibacterial mouthwash, along with routine professional cleanings, will keep plaque from gathering on the bridge.
